How Can I Help?

Spiritual Gifts Inventory
Every member of the Body of Christ is encouraged to use the spiritual gifts given to him or her by the Holy Spirit.  Not sure what your gifts might be?  Take the Spiritual Gifts Inventory.  Complete it as per the instructions and submit it to the church office -- the results will be calculated and returned to you.

Looking for a Way to Serve?
Volunteers are always needed and appreciated for the various ministries at American Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Here are areas that are currently looking for helping hands.  Please contact the church office at (928) 445-4348 or info@americanlutheran.net if you would like more information or would like to volunteer.

HAITI MISSION TRIP NEEDS SUPPORT

Director of Student Ministry, Andrew Latulippe, is hoping to go to Haiti next month with Adventures in Missions to assist in the relief effort to help survivors of the recent earthquake.  There are still many who are suffering and need aid or assistance. Andrew is hoping to raise the approximate cost of the trip which is $2,000.  For more info on the trip, see Andrew or log on to www.adventures.org/haiti.  If you would like to support this cause, checks can be made to AELC with the note, “Andrew/Mission”; or see the GIVE ONLINE page and donate through PayPal using the SPECIAL FUND GIVING link.

OPEN DOOR FOOD DRIVE - February 21 through April 11 at AELC
Every time you visit the church for ANY reason during this time, you are asked to bring one non-perishable food item or $1 for Open Door, a local organization serving Prescott's homeless and low-income residents.  This year's  congregational goal is 6,000 items and/or dollars.  For every $3 donated, Thrivent Financial will match $1.  Collection boxes are available at the main church entrances.
FOOD ITEMS MOST NEEDED BY OPEN DOOR: Soups; any protein (peanut butter, canned milk, canned meats, chili); and canned fruit.  ALL DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Read about "A DAY AT OPEN DOOR" here.

MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers)

MOPS is still in need of volunteers.  Ideally, 16 volunteers are needed each Thursday MOPS meets.  Currently, there are 10 volunteers on a rotating basis.  Can you help with child care once or twice each month for the morning (first and third Thursdays)?  If so, please contact Amy Buettner or Debbie Smith.

CONFIRMATION PRAYER PARTNERS
Prayer Partners are needed for the current year's Confirmation students.  Prayer Partners commit to secretly “adopting” a confirmation student for the year, praying specifically and intentionally for him or her, and writing an occasional note of support and encouragement to their confirmand.  Please contact Pastor Dan Storvick for more information.

LITERACY TUTORS
Literacy Outreach is in need of tutors.  The ministry's mission is to help those in the community gain the skills needed to read at not cost to them by providing tutors and educational resources in a Christian environment.  Following training, the time commitment to be a tutor is approximately one hour/week per student assigned.  Contact Evelyn Rappath at 445-7753 or Jo Nash at 776-4606.

COUNTING TEAMS
Searching for 2 individuals with availability on Monday mornings to be part of one of the three Counting Teams responsible for counting AELC's weekly offerings and monetary deposits.  Teams are scheduled on a rotating basis.  Finance or cash-handling experience is preferred but not required.
THE ROCK

Come join the team at The Rock, AELC’s high school outreach ministry. Volunteers are being recruited for the following shifts:  Mondays from 3:00-4:00 PM; Wednesdays from 1:00-3:00 PM; and Fridays from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.  Backups are also needed for filing in when other volunteers must be absent.  The Rock is located across the street from Prescott High School at 655 Talwatha.

Have a pickup truck and available Wednesdays between 11AM and 1PM?  The Rock is in need of someone to pick up and deliver the weekly Costco order.  Please contact Dave Helgeson if you're able to fill this need.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
Children’s Ministry is in search of KidZone volunteers!  Two volunteers per KidZone class are needed to help one Sunday per month during the 10:00 AM worship services.  Seniors, adults, and youth are all welcome to participate and share their talents.

MUSIC MINISTRY - CONTEMPORARY
Musicians (especially guitarists, bass players, drummers, and vocalists) for contemporary services in the Fellowship Hall are needed on an ongoing basis.  Please contact Director of Contemporary Music, Jake Madlock for more information or to schedule an audition.
